With the season inching closer, I’m going to preview each of the 12 games Georgia Football will have in 2017.

With the Georgia Football season edging closer everyday, it’s time for us to start looking at the teams Georgia will be playing. Now likely a lot will change between now and then. Injuries, form and all sorts of things will make this obsolete in about 2 months. But in the meantime, lets start by looking at UGA’s very first game in the 2017 season, Appalachian State.

Who were they last year:

App. State had a good 2016. They went 9-3 in the regular season and ended up sharing the Sun Belt Conference title with Arkansas State. They certainly did not play like a lesser team when they started their season against then #9 ranked Tennessee. App State gave the Vols a huge scare and only lost 20-13 after a 4th quarter comeback. While they might have been blown out 45-10 against Miami, they still put together a very respectable season.

They put together a very respectable win in the Camellia Bowl against Toledo. It was a close one, but they ended up winning the game 31-28 in a close and hard fought win. They finished a respectable 64th in the nation in terms of points scored which is a lot better than UGA’s 102nd. They also finished 9th in the country in terms of points allowed which is again impressive.

These stats should be taken with a grain of salt, they weren’t exactly playing an SEC schedule but it shows that they are no slouches. 2016 was head coach Scott Satterfield’s second straight year with 10 or more wins. He has done a terrific job making the Mountaineers a pretty legitimate football program.
