How does 2017 stack up:

Well they certainly know who is going to start under center. Taylor Lamb is a Georgia boy who was a 2-star recruit in 2013. He has started at least 12 games for the last 3 years at App State and has been a consistently good performer. They did not lose very many of their contributors from last year on offense and so they can expect another good season. A lot of the college sports websites have been very clear that this will not be an easy game. Tennessee were guilty last year of not taking App State seriously and Georgia might end up losing if they make the same mistake.

The real challenge for them this year will be on defense. They lost 5 key contributors thanks to graduation and they will have to fill several holes. Last year, this unit carried the team when the offense sputtered a bit. They will really need it to do that against Georgia, who will feature a lot of explosive playmakers this year. Clifton Duck made a huge impact as a freshman last year, making 5 interceptions. UGA has several explosive targets and it will be interesting to see who he ends up covering.
