ESPN's College GameDay will be in Athens this Saturday for Georgia's matchup with Ole Miss. This is usually a very exciting time for UGA fans as they get to be and front and center to watch the best pregame show in all of college football.

Unfortunately the excitement took a minor hit on Thursday when GameDay announced country music artist Jelly Roll as their guest picker. There is nothing wrong with Jelly Roll on the surface as he is a superstar who has been nominated for four Grammy Awards and has won three Country Music Awards, but with no known tie to Georgia he is a strange selection.

There are countless other celebrities who would have been a better selection than Jelly Roll, so here are 10 options that immediately came to mind within seconds of College GameDay's announcement.

10 celebrities who would have been a better option than Jelly Roll

1. Quavo

2. Kim Basinger

3. Goldberg

4. Dominique Wilkins

5. Any member of R.E.M. or the B-52s

6. Wayne Knight

7. Matthew Stafford

8. Ernie Johnson Jr.

9. Anthony Edwards

10. Alton Brown

Is Jelly Roll even a Georgia fan?

Nearly every week the College GameDay guest picker has some tie to the host school. Usually they are an athlete who played at that school or a big name celebrity who is a huge fan of the host school. But sometimes GameDay gets it wrong and picks someone who isn't even a fan of the host school, and that looks to be what happened with Jelly Roll's selection.

Jelly Roll was born in Tennessee but grew up in Georgia, so there is a chance he was a Georgia fan at one point in his life. However, there are pictures on the internet (like the cover photo of this post) showing him wearing a Tennessee jersey. Any true Georgia fan would never be caught wearing Tennessee's colors, so this completely discredits this selection by GameDay.

At the end of the day this selection doesn't really matter, but it would have been nice to have a true Georgia fan be the guest picker. And ESPN had plenty of other options they could have gone with if they had stopped and thought about it for just a couple minutes.
