One of Georgia football's strengths this fall will be their secondary. The Bulldogs have multiple lockdown defensive backs that will make life difficult for Georgia's opponents in their passing game.
Georgia's two best defensive backs entering the 2025 season arguably are Daylen Everette and KJ Bolden. UGA fans know how talented they are, and apparently the rest of the nation does as well as both Everette and Bolden where named to the watch list for the Jim Thorpe Award.
Daylen Everette and KJ Bolden named to Jim Thorpe Award watch list
The Jim Thorpe award goes to the nation's best defensive back at the end of every season, so it's clear that the nation thinks very highly of Georgia's secondary entering the season.
Everette is entering his senior year at Georgia after what was an incredible 2024 season. Last season he tallied 58 tackles which included one sack. On top of that he also forced two fumbles and snagged three interceptions. Two of those interceptions came against Texas in the SEC Championship game where Everette was named the MVP of the game.
Bolden on the other hand is entering his sophomore season after being named a freshman All-American during the 2024 season. Bolden was a starter for much of the year and was able to rack up 59 tackles, one sack and one interception.
Georgia's secondary has many other elite players that will see a lot snaps this season as well, but Everette and Bolden are the best by far. If UGA is going to find success this season, they are going to have to be carried at times by their defense. It definitely will be a team effort for Georgia's defense this fall, but a lot of the success the defense will find this fall will be due to the elite playmaking ability from both Everette and Bolden.
