No. 3 – The Georgia backfield may be crowded, but it turns out to be a good thing

We asked before the season if there were simply too many mouths to feed in Georgia’s deep stable of running backs.

Quick answer – nope.

Todd Gurley has been the guy, but the complimentary work put in by freshmen Nick Chubb and Sony Michel has helped give Gurley a rest when needed.

The two youngsters still have a lot to learn, but are both catching on fast and are two fundamentally sound football players. With Keith Marshall still not at 100 percent (and even less so after being injured again against Troy), having two backs like Chubb and Michel is definitely a blessing.

It’s obvious that Georgia’s philosophy moving forward is going to be run-first, so as many touches as any of these backs can get will up the Bulldogs’ chances of winning games.
