It’s Homecoming season and the Friday night football game takes a rare backseat to the pomp and circumstance of high school social life.   King and Queen wannabes seek votes all week from dress downed freshman, mismatched juniors, mashed up senior twins and freshman enduring their first Homecoming Dance “can I get a date – do I ask her out – does he have my phone number” angst.

But they will post the football score throughout the Friday evening on the big scoreboard with Coca Cola one side and Farm Bureau on the other and coaches will ask themselves that same age-old question – why can’t you guys get focused on the game!

Maybe the idea of watching proud suit strapped fathers escorting blushing evening gown draped daughters to mid-field makes you cry. Maybe you’re just a stick in the mud. If so, you can catch some great football on the tube and the tablet, including games with some of the 2015  Georgia Bulldog football commitments.

If somehow you have missed Sage Hardin the last month, he’s again on the NFHS Network when Marist travels to Lithonia for AAAA Region 6 tilt. Broadcast time is 5:15, but I’m not sure I would get off work early for this one – Marist is proving itself a possible national powerhouse. Lithonia has lost three straight. Put the kids to bed early.

Hardin is a 6’6” Rivals 3-star offensive line recruit.

Jonathan Ledbetter and the Tucker Tigers travel out to the country side for a game with Newton County. This one should be fun. Both teams have lost only close games to powerhouse programs while taking out their frustrations on lesser opponents by a collective point total of 301 to 13. Both the irresistible force and immoveable object have a chip on their shoulder and there will be no lack of intensity. Broadcast time on the NFHS Network from Covington is 7:30.

Ledbetter is a 6’3” 272 pond rivals 4- star defensive end and is the Rivals number 6 recruit in Georgia.

Natrez Patrick and his Mays Raiders will try to beat the rush hour traffic to Fairburn for a key Region AAAAA 6B matchup with Creekside. Both teams are 4 -1 and are riding winning streaks. Creekside has adjusted to play without Georgia commit, the injured Jayson Stanley. This game will go a long way toward determining the playoff seedings out of the Region and toward answering the question, how good can Creekside be without Stanley. Broadcast time on the NFHS Network is 7:30.

Patrick is 6’2” 257 pound Rivals 4 –star defensive end recruit.

Justin Young and his Grayson High School team welcome in-county rival South Gwinnett in for a AAAAAA Region 8 contest. The game is broadcast on GPB at 7:30. Grayson is undefeated while South Gwinnett has won only once.

Young is a 6’3” 255 pound defensive end recruit.

Times listed are broadcast times, not kickoff. Dawn of the Dawg has checked for injuries or other reasons one of these players will not compete this weekend. If you have contrary knowledge, let us know, and thank you.
