Ogbeide joins
(SG, 6’4”, 180, Athens GA, Athens Christian School) and
(SF, 6’7” 210, Beaumont, TX, Central high School) as 2015 Georgia signees.
With Nemi Djurisic and Marcus Thornton graduating after this season, the Dawgs were desperate to add a quality big man to the roster and Ogbeide appears to fill the bill.
Playing on the AAU circuit with the Southern Stampede, Ogbeide is very familiar with fellow signee Jackson.
“I know him really well. He’s a good friend. I texted him (during an official visit to Georgia) and he came over on Saturday and we got to hang out a good bit,” Ogbeide told UGASports’ Dan McDonald recently, reports Anthony Dasher. “He wasn’t pressuring me or anything, but he was telling about how it’s a great program.”
Ogbeide also talked about Coach Fox.
“I think Coach Fox is a terrific coach. He’s coached a number of guys that went to the League and had successful futures. His coaching staff is great also.”
Georgia continues to recruit the top player in the country, Jaylen Brown (SF 6’7″, 220, Marietta, GA, Wheeler High). Brown held true to his promise to wait until spring to sign a letter of intent. With one scholarship remaining, the Dawgs will hunt for another good post player unless Brown can be convinced to shun the likes of Kentucky and Kansas.
In any event, Georgia signed three very good players during the early signing period and increased the roster talent while filling roster needs.
