The Bulldogs will have to try for their sixth consecutive SEC win without their leading scorer and rebounder. According to Macon.com’s Seth Emerson, Marcus Thornton will not play against the Gamecocks due to a concussion.

This will be a tough obstacle to overcome in what is another important SEC road test for the red hot Bulldogs.

This adds to the problem of an already shorthanded Georgia team, who have been without starting small forward Juwan Parker (achilles) and reserve small forward Kenny Paul Geno (broken wrist). Both are out indefinitely.

Thornton is averaging 13.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.4 blocks and 30.2 minutes per game for the Bulldogs this season. That’s a stat line that will be difficult to replace for Mark Fox.

Georgia (14-5, 5-2 SEC) will put a 5-game SEC winning streak on the line at South Carolina (10-9, 1-6) before traveling to play undefeated and No. 1 Kentucky next Tuesday.
