Knowshon Moreno, Isaiah Crowell, Keith Marshall, Todd Gurley, Sony Michel, Nick Chubb….the list of 5-star running backs who choose to come to the University of Georgia to play football in recent years is seemingly endless.
Why stop a good thing now?
Why indeed. That’s why 5-star and 2017’s No. 1 rated running back Anthony McFarland (no relation to Booger) has Georgia moving up on his list of schools.
According to a report from Dawgs247.com (premium membership required) McFarland, who has long had Florida State on the top of his list, has begun to speak with Georgia’s coaches and is coming to Athens for a visit on Saturday April 11.
Which also happens to be G-Day and Georgia’s Spring Game. Imagine that.
McFarland is the No. 1 running back in the nation for 2017, and the No. 1 player out of the state of Maryland, according to 247 Sports composite rankings. He has also been rated as the No. 28 player in the nation for his class.
2017’s class is still a long a long way off, but going after top prospects like this early on can make all the difference in the world. In McFarland’s words, the coaching staff at UGA gives him a real feeling of “family”, and that’s exactly the way Mark Richt wants it.
