Georgia basketball coach Mark Fox took a bit of a risk offering Tyree Crump and his South Georgia pal Jordan Harris early. If the Dawgs can hold these two commitments, the reward my be great.

Half way through the summer prospect club and camp season, Georgia basketball is looking very smart. Georgia head coach Mark Fox sought and gained Tyree Crump’s (6’ 2” 170, Bainbridge, Bainbridge High) early commitment for 2016 and Crump spent the last week showing why Coach Fox offered Crump early.

Crump attended the NBPA Top 100 Camp this past week on a mission to prove himself one of the top 30 players in the country. According to Rob Harrington of Scout Hoops, mission accomplished.
“The 6-2 athlete proved himself one of the more explosive scorers at camp, and he did so in a multi-faceted fashion.”
Both Rivals.com and 247Sports.com rate Crump a four-star prospect. Scout.com rates Crump a three-star prospect, but look for that to change.
”I don’t have any hype,” Crump told Harrington. “People look over me all the time. I just came in (to camp) looking to prove my point that I should be top 30 in the nation and prove I’m better than some of these guys.”
Crump proved quick with the ball and explosive to the basket. He also averaged two three pointers a game, near the camp leaders.

The big question left unanswered at the end of the NBPA Camp is what position does Crump play in college – point guard or shooting guard. The answer is the same as the old joke about the 1000 pound Gorilla, “Anywhere he wants.”
Said Eric Bossi of Rivals.com, “[Crump’s] between a shooting guard and point guard in that he’s got point guard size but is more comfortable playing off the ball as a two. But, Crump is one of those guys who should just be considered a basketball player who produces and to whom traditional position values don’t really apply. He is quick, he can defend and he plays at full speed.”
Crump committed to Georgia last fall with his friend from down the road in Iron City, guard Jordan Harris (6’ 4” 174, Donalsonville, Seminole County High). Harris is also a four-star Rivals.com and four-star 247sports.com prsopect and already claims four stars from Scout.com. If the Dawgs seal the deal with signatures on signing day, the pair could give Georgia it’s best backcourt recruiting tandem ever.
Harris brings a taller, bigger body and extreme athleticism to the court. Both players can shoot the ball from beyond the arc. Here is video first of Tyree Crump from the recent NBPA Top 100 Camp.
The next video is from Jordan Harris’ sophomore season.
