“I believe it speaks to the quality of this facility that the Hawks come here to start their camp,” head coach Mark Fox told Georgiadogs.com. “We essentially have three courts right here together for them and weight rooms and athletic training facilities. We know this is a first-class facility, and we’re excited we’ve been able to partner with the Hawks and play a small part — a tiny part — in their season.”
Georgia’s $30-million, 120,000-square-foot practice facility, one of the largest of its kind in the nation, has been home to the Hawks training camp each season under Mike Budenholzer, the 2015 NBA Coach of the Year.
The Hawks have access to the adjacent practice gyms of the Georgia men’s and women’s basketball programs, as well as the Stegeman Coliseum playing floor.

The Hawks are coming off a 60-22 record, their best season since moving to Atlanta. Atlanta made the playoffs for the eighth consecutive year, the longest active streak in the East The Hawks won a division (Southeast Division) title for the first time since 1993-94 and earned the to[ seed for the Eastern Conference in the NBA Playoffs..The team is led by four 2015 All-Stars: point guard Jeff Teague, shooting guard Kyle Korver, center Al Horford and power forward Paul Millsap.
Whether the Hawks can return next year to Athens with similar 2015-2016 accomplishments naturally remains to be seen, but with Atlanta adding no players of note and losing DeMarre Carroll to Toronto, it’s perhaps likely Atlanta will retreat from last year’s franchise highs.
