Georgia Football: Breakfast with Eason
Georgia football head coach Mark Richt made a surprise trip to Washington on Sunday to have breakfast with Jacob Eason and his dad.

And the winner for greatest individual performance in recruiting at a college level is…
Let’s not forget that one of the candidates, Mark Richt, won an award earlier in the night for Human of the Year. That was his third time winning the award.
The winner is…MARK RICHT, head football coach at the University of Georgia.

College football’s best player’s coach is at it again. According to Seth Emerson of DawgNation, Richt visited 2016-UGA commit Jacob Eason on Sunday morning for breakfast in his hometown of Lake Stevens, Washington.
Let’s try and paint this picture for a second:
Georgia defeats Auburn on Saturday afternoon on the road. The game finished around 3:30 pm EST, and Georgia headed back to Athens. Assuming there was no traffic and taking into account postgame activities, they pulled into Athens-Clarke County between 7:30 pm and 8:30 pm. Richt then enjoyed his Saturday night until waking up early Sunday morning to fly across the country to the state of Washington to have breakfast with a recruit. The three-hour time difference on the west coast mixed with the one hour he lost in Auburn had to have messed up his body clock.
Something that can never and will never be taken away from Richt is his ability to connect with players on a personal level, and the sincerity he shows towards his team. This example is one of many that proves how much he cares for the men that commit to all the University of Georgia stands for.

The best part about this story is Richt probably did not make this trip because he was afraid Eason could de-commit. It was most likely all out of love and respect for a kid he has grown to have a great relationship with. Isn’t that what recruiting is all about?
The kids who switch their commitments on the last day causing speculations of NCAA violations to arise often overshadow stories like these. Building a relationship over a year or two years is the whole point of recruiting. The recruit’s family trusts the coach to look out for their child for three or four years.
This bond between Richt and Eason seems to be growing on a daily basis. The Bulldog nation should be proud to have a headman who cares as much as Richt and excited for the future when Eason will step onto campus in Athens.
