Richt Out For Georgia Football Bowl Game
Mark Richt will not coach the Georgia football team in their bowl game.

Mark Richt’s tenure at Georgia has ended, but at least they still have him for the bowl game. Well now it looks like things have changed.
According to Julie Wolfe from WXIA 11-Alive Atlanta, Richt met with the Georgia players Thursday tell them that he would not be at the helm for the Bulldogs’ final game of the season. Instead, wide receiver coach and passing game coordinator Bryan McClendon with serve as the interim head coach for the game.

Does all of this seem like it was not supposed to end this way?
One of the most decorated coaches in Georgia history coached his last game as UGA head coach at Bobby Dodd Stadium. He also did not receive a proper goodbye from the Sanford Stadium crowd at his last home game, and he will not finish what he started this season.
That is a hard pill to swallow.
For any doubters of his hire at Miami, this news all but sets it in stone. His legacy at Georgia will be talked about for the rest of time and a person’s accomplishments are almost always appreciated more as time passes. Right now the Georgia faithful have to be feeling numb. The problem is there really is not anyone to blame for this.

People will continue to throw their blame at athletic director Greg McGarity, but all he was doing when he let Richt go was his job. It is not his fault that the Georgia fans cannot properly say their goodbyes to Richt nor is it his job to feel sentimental towards the fans about letting their dear coach go.
McGarity has a job that requires a person to make unlikeable, tough decisions. He understood how much national championships mean to this program, and he planned accordingly.
This situation is a lose-lose for all of Dawg Nation. The only thing to do now is to continue to praise Richt for his great dedication to and success at Georgia, wish him luck in the future and start buying in to Kirby Smart and the future of Georgia football.
