According to an announcement made by the University of Georgia, backup quarterback Faton Bauta will transfer. Bauta graduated from UGA with a degree in Sports Management in May, so he will be allowed to play immediately at another school.
Bauta had a rather rocky four-year career in Athens. After redshirting his freshman season in 2012, he appeared in three games each in the 2013 and 2014 seasons at quarterback. He made his only start in 2015 against Florida completing 15 of 33 pass attempts for 154 and four interceptions.

Most of his career was spent as the holder on field goals and extra points.
The former three-star recruit came to Georgia at the time Aaron Murray was setting records at the quarterback position. He spent two years behind Murray, one behind Hutson Mason and his final year with the school behind current quarterback Greyson Lambert.
Bauta is yet another example in a long line of former Georgia quarterbacks that never received enough chances to make his mark. Like Bryce Ramsey and quarterbacks of old, he could never beat out the guys in front of him to earn a permanent starting job.

Players like Bauta are usually beloved by Georgia fans because of their commitment to the school. When they realized they might never get a chance to be the starting quarterback, they continued to stick with the program because they loved playing for the Bulldogs and Mark Richt.
Now, it seems like Bauta has done all he can at the university and is looking to finish out his career at a place he will get more playing time.
He has not said where he will transfer to yet, but the Georgia Nation wishes him the best and is thankful for his dedication to the school and the football program.
