Breon Dixon was ready to spread some holiday cheer to one lucky university. He took to Twitter to announce his college commitment Friday in a viral video accompanied by his family.
According to Jeff Sentell of DawgNation, Dixon has chosen to play his collegiate football at Georgia picking the Bulldogs over SEC rivals Tennessee and Florida. The four-star prospect had not received an offer from UGA until two weeks ago, but he had an offer from Alabama via Kirby Smart before he became the Dawgs head coach.

The 6’0’’, 216-pound junior linebacker from nearby Suwanee, Georgia plays on one of the premiere high school teams in the state. Peachtree Ridge has a slew of top talent, and the commitment of Dixon could help sway his teammates Nigel Warrior (2016, four-star safety) and DeAngelo Gibbs (2017, five-star cornerback) to commit to play in Athens. Both players have UGA as one of their top schools.
Dixon ranks as the 193
rd
best player in the country, 12
th
best outside linebacker in America and the 28
th
best player in Georgia.
Since Smart took over the team has picked up two commitments from 2017 players pushing the total for that class to three. Along with Dixon, he joins four-star wide receiver Devonta Smith (Amite, LA/Amite High) and five-star athlete Richard LeCounte III (Hinesville, GA/Liberty County High) on the list of juniors who will become future Bulldogs.

The 2016 class remains at 14 commitments. Since the firing of Mark Richt the class has taken a bit of a tumble, but they have managed to keep key pieces like offensive tackle Ben Cleveland (Toccoa, GA/Stephens County High) and quarterback Jacob Eason (Lake Stevens, WA/Lake Stevens High). With just over a month left until national signing day, the Bulldogs are still in the hunt for many of the nation’s top prospects.
The team holds the No. 13 overall recruiting class in the country for 2016. They could crack the top ten if they can sign four or five more guys, and they should enter the top five if they sign the No. 1 overall prospect in the class Rashan Gary and Georgia’s top prospect Derrick Brown (No. 8 overall).
