The 2016 G-Day Spring Football game is set for Saturday, April 16, at 4 p.m. New UGA Football Head Coach Kirby Smart is urging fans to completely fill the stands at the free-admission game. That is why the popular hashtag “93KDay” was created.

Smart has brought new life into the Georgia football program and seems to have the full backing of the athletic department and fans.  Smart hopes to further capture the fan’s excitement at G-Day this year.

As for the day’s schedule, the traditional lettermen’s flag football game is slated to start at 1:15, followed by the first ever Dawg Walk before a spring game at UGA at 2:45, a pre-game concert at 3 (another first), and finally the G-Day Game at 4.

Unlike in years past, all concessions stands will be open in the stadium, and crowd control will be a priority. UGA Associate Athletic Director for Event Management Matt Brachowski even mentioned the possibility of shutting the gates if the stands reach capacity according to Dawgnation.com.

At his first real public appearance at a UGA basketball game, Kirby Smart talked about the upcoming spring game.

“I really want to unite the Bulldog Nation right now and tell everybody–fans, crowd, students, all you guys–all this passionate energy, we expect to see this same passionate energy in Sanford Stadium come the spring game. We’re going to challenge you. We want 93,000 fans to come out to the spring game to support us. The easiest thing in recruiting is when your fan base is united and everybody pulling in the same direction. That’s what we need, that’s what we want, that’s what we expect to get that done,” said Smart according to Dawgnation.com.
