The Georgia quarterback battle is heating up as the team enters its fourth week of spring practice.

With G-Day less than two weeks away, the Georgia quarterback battle is becoming more interesting with every practice.

Last Saturday, as the third week of spring practices wrapped up, Greyson Lambert and Brice Ramsey split first team snaps during the first spring scrimmage of the season while Jacob Eason took the majority of his snaps with the threes. Being this far into spring practice, most fans probably thought Eason would have the starting position locked up or at least be practicing with the first team.

So, this is a bad sign, right? No.

Eason has only practiced with the team officially for three weeks at this point, and although his arm talent is apparent to his coaches and teammates, it takes time to adjust to the demands of being a collegiate quarterback.

With G-Day around the corner, the big question on everyone’s mind is who will start for the red and black teams?

There’s still plenty of practice left before kick off for the spring game, but if the game were to happen tomorrow, the two veterans, Lambert and Ramsey, would be named the starters.

Fans will have the chance to see Eason in action at some point during the spring game, but for how long is unclear. What is clear is this is still a wide-open race that won’t be decided until summer or even up until game time against UNC.

At this moment, this race is even too close to call a preliminary front runner. As Eason develops over the next few months, expect to see him gradually take more reps with the ones. Then, once he becomes fully integrated into the quarterback and offensive systems, he’ll be able to focus on competing for that top spot.

For now, fans should be patient and trust that this competition will work itself out. If anything, watching his veteran teammates will push Eason to work harder.
