I lumped these two together because both are pretty great.

SEC Storied: Herschel Walker, which will air at 12:30 a.m., tells the story of Georgia’s greatest football player. Fans are given some insight into Walker’s formative years, including the revelation that he was bullied as a child.

Walker and director Rory Karpf show fans Walker the person rather than just Walker the football hero. Of course, his career can’t be overlooked. Walker’s coach, Vince Dooley, and others talk about Walker’s rise to fame at Georgia and his Heisman Trophy season.

By now, most Georgia fans have probably seen this one, but if you haven’t, it’s a must. This was the first SEC Storied, and it remains one of the very best.

The other SEC Storied special concerning Georgia athletics is about the Gym Dogs, and it will air at 5:30 a.m.

More from Georgia Baseball

Suzanne Yoculan, Georgia gymnastics’ long-time head coach, built up a perennial national title contender in Athens. Yoculan led the Bulldogs to 10 national championships, including five in a row from 2005-2009 to close her career. She also built a fierce rivalry with Alabama.

The Crimson Tide’s gymnastics team was headed by Sarah Patterson from 1979-2014. She, like Yoculan, took over a floundering program and took it to unimaginable heights. Both Georgia and Alabama became powerhouses and helped put college gymnastics on the map.

That wouldn’t have been possible without Yoculan and Patterson. The duo was known for their competitiveness, especially against one another, and that ultimately created several memorable moments.

SEC Storied: Sarah and Suzanne is a great look at the two coaches’ relationship, and serves as an effective introduction to the Gym Dogs for fans who may not be aware of their success.
