Georgia Baseball had another tough week going up against two very good teams.

This week, the Georgia Baseball team went 1-3. The Dawgs lost a tough game to #4 Clemson 9-7. Then would lose the series at home to Vanderbilt. Georgia is now 16-25 (5-13 SEC) on the season.

Game 1

The Dawgs took one to the chin in this one as they lost 8-1. Vanderbilt had a very balanced game with good pitching and hitting.

Patrick Raby was sensational on the mound for the Commodores. He threw a complete game, striking out 4 and only giving up 1 run. The bats showed up as well. Vanderbilt sent 3 bombs out of Foley Field. Jeren Kendall, Julian Infante, and Stephen Scott all homered for Vandy.

Andrew Gist took the loss for UGA on the mound. He gave up 6 runs in 5 innings pitched. Cam Sheppard lead the Dawgs at the plate. He was 1-4 with a solo homerun.

Game 2

Game 2 and 3 was part of a Saturday double header. Game 2 was a pitching showdown where there was only 5 combined hits in the game. Georgia would win this one 1-0.

Matt Ruppenthal took the loss on the mound. Kyle Wright, the Vandy starter, was the story line. In a no decision, Wright threw 7 shutout innings. JJ Bleday and Conner Kaiser went 1-3 each.

Chase Adkins was a star in his winning outing for the Dawgs. He threw 8 shutout innings and struck out 6 Commodores. Cam Sheppard went 1-3, hitting the game winning homerun in the 8th inning.

Game 3

Georgia would fall in the second game of the double header to Vanderbilt 10-5. Once again, the Vanderbilt bats were hot.

Chandler Day got the victory for the Commodores. He gave up 3 runs in 5.1 innings. Ethan Paul went 2-4 with a homerun and scored 3 runs.

Ryan Avidano took the loss for UGA. He had a tough time finding the strike zone. He threw 1.2 innings, gave up 2 hits, walked 3, and gave up 3 runs. Mitchell Webb went 1-3 with a homerun.

Conclusion

Another tough week for the Georgia Baseball team ends. It seems like most weeks I’m writing about multiple losses with very few wins. Vanderbilt remain a very good team, but once again, UGA continues to have a tough season. It’s really hard to see where the wins are going to start coming from for the dawgs going forward. Hopefully they can find some form and win some upsets soon.
