A big time Georgia Football target backed off his current commitment from Penn State.

Justin Fields, one of the top quarterback recruits for 2018 and the number 1 ranked dual threat qb in the nation, has decommited from Penn State. Fields reopening his recruitment is great news for Georgia Football who appear to be in the mix for the kid out Harrison High in Kennesaw Georgia.
Bad news
Florida is thought to now be his leader. Georgia seems to be set at quarterback for the next 4 years with Jacob Eason and stud freshman Jake Fromm. This was obviously a factor in losing out on another blue chipper in state QB recruit for 2018, Trevor Lawrence, who is headed to Clemson.

Guys the caliber of Lawrence and Fields want to play as soon as possible. Coming into Athens within the next few years won’t give any guarantees of early playing time.
Good news
Justin Fields has already stated that if he did decommit from Penn State that Georgia had a chance. The best thing the Dawgs have going for them here though is their head coach.
Kirby Smart is still an elite recruiter and he really seems to be focusing on dual threat QB’s more than his predecessor, Coach Richt did. His pursuit of Fields when we already have Eason and Fromm shows me that he does not want to let that guy like Fields who could potentially be a Deshuan Watson type player escape from our backyard.
Letting Watson get away and go to Clemson was one one the great recruiting blunders Richt ever made. Kirby may lose out on some of these guys, but he’s pursuing them hard. That’s encouraging.
Its going to be tough to say the least to get Fields to come here with two 5 star QB’s as good as Eason and Fromm already on the roster. But if he’s a in state guy and he’s the number 1 dual threat quarterback in the nation, you must do everything in your power to have a shot at him. Kirby has stated that he wouldn’t let him leave the state without a fight, and I believe him.

We don’t want Justin to be the next in state guy we see leading one of our neighbors/rivals to a national championship. ESPECIALLY if that team could be the Florida Gators. Go get him, Kirby!
