Career recap

Chubb burst onto the scene in 2014 while the great Todd Gurley was still here terrorizing defenses. Everyone around Athens and his hometown of Cedartown knew Chubb was something very special, but it took him about 12 seconds in one of his first college plays against the Clemson Tigers to show the nation what a lot of us already knew. This kid was a tank.

He proceeded to take over starting duties as a freshman when Todd Gurley was serving a 4-game suspension and went on to rush for 1,547 yards. He had arrived and was undoubtedly a future Heisman contender.

Fast forward to 2015. Chubb is doing Chubb things and is having a Heisman worthy year. And then, it happened; one of the most devastating, gut wrenching injuries I have seen happen to a UGA player.

More from Dawn of the Dawg

Georgia versus Tennessee, in Knoxville. Chubb was running out to the left on what looked like a fairly routine run. And then, snap. His knee buckled. His leg looked like a hickory branch that was snapped in the middle. His season was over, and his future was in jeopardy.

With a lot of hard work, rehab and physical therapy, Nick returned for the first game of the 2016 season against North Carolina in the Georgia Dome. He racked up 222 yards and had many wondering if he was back to his old form.

It became apparent as the season progressed that he wasn’t. While he still ended up with over 1,000 yards, he always seemed slightly slower and not as dominant as before. So when the draft talk came up, many wondered if he would skip his senior season and go to the NFL.

Lucky for the Bulldog Nation, he decided to come back. Along with taking care of some unfinished business (cough, cough, Tech) , he wants to improve his draft stock, and I believe he will.
