Georgia Football 2017 Preview: Missouri Tigers
What do they do not so well:
Defend. As in any kind of defense. run, pass, you name it, last season, Missouri couldn’t stop it. As I said earlier, they let Middle Tennessee put 51 points past them. 51 POINTS AND THEY WERE AT HOME!!! I mean that is almost impossible to believe. To have an SEC program go up against an FBS opponent and be walked all over like that, at homecoming, is bizarre. Middle Tennessee weren’t even a great FBS program. They were a middling team in conference USA. How the heck do you let them beat you like that?
Their linebackers were awful last year and Odam implemented a new D-Line scheme that never really fit with the talent he had at hand. It seems like Mizzou has been churning out NFL pass rushers for the past decade, but last year, their DL was porous and it will need major improvement if they are going to have a better 2017. Odam replaced the line coach and brought in a bunch of JUCO transfers to beef up the line this year so it’s certainly possible. Terry Beckner Jr was a 5 star prospect in 2015 but has had injury issues in his 2 seasons so far. If he can put that behind him, he could be the difference maker the team are looking for.
While there might be some optimism however, there are a lot more questions then there are answers in this department. Georgia’s offense should be rubbing their hands together for this game in 2017. There should be plenty of opportunities to put points on the board.
