Ahkil Crmpton is not Isaiah McKenzie 2.0

A couple weeks ago, Georgia signed Ahkil Crumpton Los Angeles Valley College and he’s practicing with the team already.

Judging by his size and athleticism, fans assumed he’s be a replacement for Isaiah McKenzie. However, senior receiver Javon Wims pointed out that Crumpton has a larger upper body than McKenzie and he’ll be a different player because of that.

In more detail, Wims said to the Macon Telegraph: “I think they’re two different players, two different body types… Both of them have some similarities.”

“When I see him on the field he’s like lightning in a bottle,” Wims said. “I think he can help this team.”

It looks like Crumpton will be a big part of Georgia’s receiving corps this season but he could also be used in the return game. I previously stated that he would probably return either punts or kickoffs while Mecole Hardman returns the other.

But since Crumpton is a bit larger, I expect him to handle kickoffs. Kickoff returners need to build up a head of steam while punt returners need to be agile enough to make the first man miss. Crumpton’s body type makes him more suited for kickoffs while Hardman’s makes him more suited for punts.
