Offensive weapons looking impressive.

One of the most exciting things about this practice session was the number of weapons UGA seems to have on offense this year. Whether its wide receivers, running backs of tight ends, the dawgs look impressive. Freshman RB D’Andre Swift made a statement with his performance in the practice. He was quick, elusive, great catching the ball out of the slot and even trucked a DB in the passing game. He’s kind of a forgotten name in the 2017 class, but he showed just how talented he was in practice. I firmly expect him to force coaches to find a way to get him on the field.

The young receivers also looked good. Terry Godwin looks like the leader of this unit and played well. Mecole Hardman continues to impress in the slot and new transfer Akhil Crumpton looked explosive. Trey Blount was one of the most impressive players at the position due to his impressive blocking skills. His effort was rewarded with some key reps as Kirby Smart continues to keep his promise that good blockers will get balls thrown their way.

The tight ends didn’t quite stand out as much as the other position groups. Issac Nauta was OK but he was lit up by Kirby at one point when he missed a block and Jeb Blazevich continues to look limited. Overall though, the weapons look impresive this season. Fans should have lots of excitement on the offensive side of the ball this season.
