SEC Network analyst hypes Georgia’s defense

We in the Bulldog Nation know that Georgia has one of the best defenses in the SEC. But earlier this week, Marcus Spears an analyst for the SEC network said that Georgia’s defense “has more knowns” than Alabama’s.

He did concede that Alabama has the best. But they’re a safe bet to have the best defense in the conference as they’ve been the most dominant defense for almost a full decade. Spears says that Georgia is closing the gap and that’s when he said that Georgia has more knowns than Alabama.

It’s hard to disagree. Georgia not only returns every starter in the front-seven, they return contributors in the second and third string. Plus Smart signed many top-notch recruits at defensive line and linebacker.

The defensive backfield is the only mystery on defense and Parrish’s injury didn’t help matters. But’s it’s clear that Parrish will return and Georgia still has Davis, as well as senior Dominick Sanders who looks to move into the top-three in career interceptions in Georgia’s record books.

And after not getting much good news at all from younger defensive backs, we finally started hearing some good news about Richard LeCounte III and J.R. Reed.  If those two emerge as valuable players this season, the Bulldogs will have an intimidating defense to say the least.
