Every Sunday, we’ll be diving into a detailed report on what happened at the Georgia Football game the previous day. This week, UGA was able to overcome a difficult start to get a relatively easy win over App State. That being said, it didn’t all go to plan and we’re going to have to wait and see what happens with starting QB Jacob Eason who got injured early on.

1st Quarter:

Georgia started the game slowly on offense and their first two drives accounted for only 4 yards. The offensive line struggled to handle the speed of App. State’s defense and the running backs were often hit in the backfield. On the third drive, ‘it’ happened. Quarterback Jacob Eason was flushed out of the pocket and proceeded to run out of bounds. After he went out, App State defensive end Myquon Stout put on a late hit. This hit caused Eason to twist his knee and ankle and he ended up being unable to continue the game.

This was a pretty big shock, Georgia had a true freshman Jake Fromm as the backup. Fortunately, Fromm came in and looked decent on his first drive. He completed two straight passes of 8 yards and helped Georgia to move the chains a bit. He would then make two more big throws in his second drive that led to a Nick Chubb 1 yard touchdown run to finish the quarter.

While the offense was warming up, the defense looked like it was in midseason form. Roquan They continually stuffed App. States run game and forced 3 and outs on 3 of the Mountaineers 4 drives of the half. Trenton Thompson and JR Reed, in particular, looked like handfuls and both had sacks of Taylor Lamb.
