2nd Quarter:

If the offense started off slow in the first quarter, it was humming in the second. Jake Fromm led Georgia to two straight scoring drives to start the quarter and that was sandwiched by a defensive stop on 4th down. Fromm initially led a 86 yard drive down the field that was really made up of two big plays. First, Sony Michel broke a long run that went for 44 yards and put UGA inside the App State half. Then Fromm got a big time play from Javon Wims who came back and caught an underthrown ball and made a spin move into the end zone for the score.

That drive was followed by a shorter drive thanks to the defensive stop that occurred on the UGA 42. That gave the offense great field position and Georgia took advantage. Nick CHubb had a big 23-yard run and then a pass interference call put Georgia inside the 10-yard line. Sony Michel scored on a direct snap to give UGA a 21-0 lead.

Georgia’s defense would play another solid quarter and ensure that the dawgs went in with a shutout at halftime. Although they gave up a few yards in the final drive of the half, App State had a long way to go and never threatened to score as the clock wound down.
