Georgia Football welcomes Samford this weekend and there should be plenty of opportunities for several Freshmen to show out against the Bulldogs.

When Georgia Football takes on Samford on Saturday, nobody is expecting a particularly close game. That’s no disrespect to Samford, but Georgia should handle business against the Bulldogs. Because of this, there is a good chance that some of UGA’s much heralded 2017 recruiting class gets on the field a bit in the game. There should be plenty of opportunities, especially in the 2nd half for them to get some experience.

When Georgia played App. State, 17 Freshmen saw time in the 4th quarter. Hopefully, they will get a few more series than they did in that game. Now the offense has two true freshmen starters in Jake Fromm and Andrew Thomas right now. I’m going to leave them out of this because I think we all know about them. Here are 5 other freshmen who fans should be looking out for this week. All of them could potentially have an impact when they see the field and be DGD’s for some time.

Just missed the cut:

Before we get into the top 5, as I said, there are plenty of Freshmen who could see the field. Jaden Hunter, Nate McBride and Monty Rice are all battling for time at ILB. This is one of UGA’s strongest position groups but it would be nice to give Roquan Smith and Natrez Patrick some time off this week.

Malik Herring could see some time on the DL at the end position and it would be great to see if Robert Beal gets on the field. He could be a red shirt candidate because of how late he got into camp but I sure would love to see him play. Ameer Speed could see a bit of time in the secondary later on and I wouldn’t be shocked to see Justin Schaffer at guard towards the end of the game.

Last but not least, If Isaiah Wilson goes out, it shows us that we can likely expect to see him later this season. It would also show some improvement on his end that has the coaches thinking he could find a way to start by season end. If he doesn’t look for him to redshirt this season.
