Georgia Football got a big win on the field on Saturday, but the results off of it could end up being even bigger for the program.

UGA’s win over Mississippi State was a big deal this past Saturday. That’s not only because Georgia was able to start it’s 2017 SEC campaign on a high. It was also because of the incredible amount of talent that was in Athens this Saturday.

Now like most schools, Georgia tends to have recruits at all of its home games. Kirby Smart and his coaches have been good at spreading these visits out so that they can often spend dedicated time with certain guys. But this week, that was different. Mississippi State was the jewel in the crown of this year’s games in Sanford Stadium. That was particularly true after what they did to LSU last week.

So it seems the coaches and the current commitments did some work to get people in town this weekend. Not only were almost all of UGA’s recruits for the 2018 and 2019 class in town, so were almost all of the team’s top-rated targets. While we’re obviously still going to look into how Georgia beat the other bulldogs 31-3 as the week goes on, I wanted to delve into how big this game was for UGA’s recruiting.

That’s because a common theme that seemed to be spreading all day was that something big is happening in Georgia. These recruits know it and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see an awful lot of them play between the hedges one day.
