After much more of a shootout than most fans were expecting, Georgia Football was able to stay perfect and beat Missouri 53 – 28

First Half:

Ok dawg fans settle down, no need to worry. The Georgia Football team was able to get the W in homecoming against the Missouri Tigers. It was a much higher scoring game than most were expecting. The Georgia defense that has been so good this year had what can safely be described as an off day. Fortunately, the offense was humming and helped them pick up the slack.

The day started off with Mecole Hardman scoring the first TD of the day on a jet sweep for 35 yards. Mizzou got their first touchdown thanks to an interception by Jake Fromm. Cale Garrett returned his pick to UGA’s 5-yard line and Dre Lock threw a shovel pass for his first TD of the day.

Both sides traded TD’s back and forth after that with Drew Lock throwing 2 63 yard TD’s to Emanuel Hall. UGA had not conceded a TD on a 50-yard play until today. Yep, that record went out of the window. Anyway, Georgia was able to pull away before the half thanks to a Jake Fromm TD run and two field goals. That gave them a 34-21 point lead going into halftime.

Second Half:

There is no doubt that Georgia came out slightly different in the second half. Having likely been chewed out by a visibly annoyed Kirby Smart, the team got to work early and put plenty of points on the board. After driving 68 yards down the field, the Dawgs settled for a field goal. They got another 3 points after Missouri muffed a punt the next possession. The followed that up with another 3 and out from the defense. Then D’Andre Swift went nuts

D’Andre Swift then showed his speed and burst and ran 71 yards. That set up Sony Michel’s second TD of the game and gave UGA a 26 point lead. Georgia’s defensive struggles were not over for the day, however. Lock drove his team down the field one last time and connected on a 27-yard pass to Jason Reese. It was his 4th TD pass of the day.

UGA struck right back, however, and it was that man Mecole again. This time, Hardman caught a pass out in space from Jake Fromm. He turned and sliced open up the Mizzou defense for a 59 yard TD. For some reason, Kirby decided to try a 2pt conversion after that which failed.

Next: UGA should keep running the rock vs Mizzou

With the win in the bag, UGA then began to run the clock out. With Elijah Holyfield and Brian Herrien doing a great job of making 1st downs, Georgia did just that. It was a bit more exciting than we all expected but it was another win. UGA move to 7-0 with a bye week before facing Florida. They avoided the upset and kept on the path to what will hopefully be an SEC East title.
