Georgia football: Observations of the Bulldogs opponents after week seven
South Carolina barely beats Tennessee
South Carolina may have put the final nail in the coaching career of Butch Jones at Tennessee, but that doesn’t mean they played a great game. The Gamecocks trailed 9-3 at halftime, but they outscored the Vols 12-0 in the second half to win the game.
They’re still struggling to find an offense without Deebo Samuel. That showed as they were unable to score 20 points for the fourth time this year. However, they did find their way to the end zone with a run by A.J. Turner in the third quarter.
Besides that, it was all field goals for the Gamecocks. Their two best drives were of 95 and 72 yards. But besides that, they only surpassed 30 yards twice. The results of these drives were a field goal and a turnover on downs.
The defense however looked as good as it has all year. John Kelly was contained to just 54 yards and Tennessee only gained 253 yards as a team. Their defense should be one of the best Georgia will play down the stretch.
