Mark Richt still owns Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech must hate Mark Richt. As the offensive coördinator and quarterbacks coach at Florida State, Richt went 9-0 against the Yellow Jackets. He was 13-2 against them as head coach at Georgia and now’s 2-0 against Georgia tech as Miami’s head coach. That’s a combined record of 24-2.

Georgia tech controlled the game early however and led 14-3 at one point in the second quarter. But the Canes ended the first half with a touchdown pass to cut the score to 14-13. Georgia Tech regained momentum after halftime by returning a botched extra point to the end zone. That set the score at 21-13 and they made it 24-13 mid way through the third quarter.

But then the rain fell. It poured down for the rest of the day and Miami seemed to adapt much better. Tech allowed 12-unanswered points and Miami won 25-24.

Tech just doesn’t look like a 60-minute team. They dominated Tennessee early before allowing them to tie the game and send it overtime where the Jackets lost. They looked their best against weak opponents.

Next: Hopefully these injuries will be healed over the off week

Marshall is still a surprisingly good passer for a triple option guy, but he’s not going to hold that consistency over 20-plus attempts. And the defense just can’t stop a team for a full game. They run out of steam too quickly.
