Player of the year – Nick Chubb

Of course it’s Nick Chubb. He’s the heart of the offense, the leading rusher (688 yards) and the leader that every player on the team wants to succeed for.

With how severe his injury was in 2015, Chubb should have never been able to play at his original effectiveness. But with his hard work and lead-by-example, not only has he improved, but the team has gotten better around him as well.

His speech before the Tennessee game clearly resonated as Georgia had their best performance in Knoxville in that 41-0 slaughter. Plus, he rushed for 109 yards in that game.

He’s on track for over 1,300 yards this season if Georgia plays in the SEC Championship Game. That would give him the school record for most rushing yards by a senior.

Honorable mention – Sony Michel

Chubb wasn’t the only running back who passed up the NFL to stay in school one more year, Michel also returned and he’s having another great year. In fact, he’s on track for his second 1,000-yard season. Which would give Georgia two 1,000 rushers for the first time ever.

Chubb might be more durable, but Michel is just as potent. The only thing that has slowed him down all season was an ankle injury against Notre Dame that kept him out of the Samford game. Despite that, he still rushed for a stellar 4.6 yards per carry in his return against Mississippi State.

He also has six touchdowns this year making him Georgia’s third leading scorer.
