Georgia Football – The Dawgs Needed a Game Like That
By Mike Stowe
Mike Stowe breaks down his feelings after the Georgia Football team overcomes South Carolina.
For the first time since 1980, the Georgia Bulldogs are 9-0. They were tested at times by the South Carolina Gamecocks, but ended up winning yet again by a score of 24-10. It’s amazing the position we are in now with this team. Before the season, most people agreed that a 10-2 season and an SEC East title would be a great season and another step in the right direction. But it has become so much more. 9-0 with so many dominant wins over conference opponents has changed this team from a potentially great team in the near future to a great team in the present.
Besides the Notre Dame game, this team hasn’t faced a ton of adversity simply because they’ve been steamrolling most opponents. With 3 games left, an undefeated season is very realistic. Oh yeah, and with Ole Miss defeating Kentucky combined with the Dawgs winning over USC Jr., UGA is OFFICIALLY the SEC Eastern division champions. Yep, Dawg fans, we are headed back to Atlanta for the first time since 2012!
So, I have to ask, what’s with all the negativity?I’ve seen some people this morning and some last night after the game as well that seems a little mad because we didn’t beat Scar 48-0. UGA is a really good young football team. But this is the SEC, people. And when you are in the SEC and are ranked #1 in the country, teams like USC Jr. are going to get up to play you.
I know what’s happened. Success raises expectations.
But understand that the game yesterday was needed. This team needs to face a little adversity. It needs it not only to see how they are going to react to it but to get them ready for the upcoming stretch. We are about to go through some tough games, Dawg fans. Auburn is going to be tough. Tech will be tricky. And, of course, we all know who is going to be waiting for us in the Benz in Atlanta. Alabama is going to be VERY tough. At least 2 of these games are likely to be close in the 4th quarter.
42-7 against Florida was fun. I was there to see it in person and it was awesome. 41-0 against Tennessee was amazing. Those kinds of games show that we belong, but they aren’t getting us prepared for Auburn and Alabama. This team needed someone who at least punched back against the heavyweight that is UGA. The Gamecocks showed up. The fought hard. They lost, but in the process, I feel like they unintentionally helped Georgia get ready for these last few brutal battles we have to try to secure that coveted spot in the College Football Playoff.

Tighten your seat belts, Dawg fans….the last part of this unbelievable ride is going to be a bumpy one. I do believe, however, it’s one that this Georgia team is ready for.
