Georgia owning 2018. Plenty more of that to come:

Things are looking very different in the 2018 class between these two schools. While Georgia sits at no.5 in the rankings, Auburn is currently at no.20. UGA is building more and more momentum and they don’t seem to have stopped yet. There is a good chance they end up with as many as 4 5-star talents and another top 3 ranking.

Auburn, on the other hand, seems to be losing more and more battles for top Georgia targets. The highest ranked player from the peach state that they have committed right now to this year’s class is Matthew Hill. Hill is a good player, but he’s only the 19th highest ranked guy in the state.

They have a legit shot at getting Trey Hill’s signature. The two teams seem to be battling it out for the nations no.2 guard right now. But other than Hill, Auburn are not seen as real contenders for any other top 20 player in Georgia.

That’s a big change and it’s one that could change the fortune of both programs. UGA beat of Auburn for Azeez Ojulari and Kearis Jackson this year. If they do it again with Hill, that will mean Kirby Smart has won every recruiting battle he fought against Gus Malzahn this year.

Auburn’s best years were fueled by great players in Georgia choosing to play for the Tigers. Despite those players, Auburn failed to consistently beat Georgia over the past decade. With Georgia winning more and more on the recruiting trail, there is every chance that Auburn could be in some trouble on the field going forward.
