Roquan Smith and Aaron Davis

Saturday should have been called “Senior and Roquan Smith Day” because in all likelihood, Smith is headed to the NFL. He is one of the best linebackers in the country. I will be shocked if he doesn’t win any national awards, named to any All-American teams or drafted in the first round.

Smith made nine tackles Saturday, including one sack. And all nine of those tackles seemed to come on different areas of the field. The entire stadium is Roquan Smith’s territory. I’d like to see him stay for his senior year like Chubb, Michel, Lorenzo Carter and Davin Bellamy, but none of those guys were projected first round picks in the 2017 Draft like Smith should be.

As for Aaron Davis, what a career he’s had. High school injury derails his recruitment, he graduated with a 4.5 GPA and then joined the Georgia football team as a walk-on. For some, that’s enough. But Davis parlayed that into a stellar career. He has started almost every game in his four-year career at either cornerback, nickelback or safety.

Saturday, in his last game in Athens, Davis intercepted a pass in the second half to help Georgia seal the game when it looked like the Wildcats might comeback.
