What can we expect in Athens?

White’s injury likely means that we won’t get to see him start the season. We also won’t get to see him in spring practice as he will be rehabbing his knee with UGA’s staff. However, unlike some, I’m not going to write off the 2018 season entirely for White.

This is a guy who tore his ACL and then played the rest of the game. The guy then took a trip to Athens for the weekend and only realized 3 days later that his knee still hurt. He went bowling the night before his operation. Either this tear isn’t that terrible, or he is tougher than old boot leather!

Either way, I expect White to find his way back onto the field next season. He won’t end up starting, but he could make a huge impact as the year goes on. Look for him to round into form just as the games get really big. He’ll be the kind of weapon opposing teams lose sleep about.

When he’s fully recovered, I really expect White to go out there and show the world what a truly great RB looks like. I don’t like throwing out comparisons, especially when we’re talking about legends. But White really does remind me of Todd Gurley and I think he can become the kind of player that we saw back when he was in Athens. Zeus is a special back, a ‘once every 5 years’ kind of player at his position.

Next: How about now we look at QB Justin Fields!

By the time he’s done in Red and Black, look for the chant of ‘ZEEEUUUSSSSS’ to have become particularly popular in Sanford Stadium on Saturdays.
