Georgia Football: 5 Dawgs who could break out in Atlanta
1. Tyler Clark:
If I was writing this 4 weeks ago, some of you might not know who Tyler Clark was. As a sophomore defensive tackle, he’s not exactly had a lot written about him this season. But after a stellar Rose Bowl performance, more people have started to take notice of his play. Truth be told, he’s been playing lights out pretty much all year.
Clark has become the key player in the middle of the UGA defensive line. That unit isn’t like Bama, it does not have 2 or 3 potential 1st round talents who dominate offensive lines. Instead, it’s made up or 6 or 7 really good players who do their job really well and rotate in and out to stay fresh.
But Clark has become the best of the bunch. He generates so much pressure on the QB up the middle and he’s become an absolute menace in the backfield. While the likes of John Atkins and Julian Rochester hold down the Nose position, Clark attacks the line and he’s doing a tonne of damage right now to opposing offenses.
To stop Jalen Hurts, UGA is going to need a great game on the defensive line. As I said the other day, stopping the Alabama option game starts with the line of scrimmage. Georgia has to control it if they want to stop Bama in their tracks.
Next: Our official prediction for tonight (fingers crossed!)
Clark right now is the most impactful player on that line. If he has another game like he did last week, he could well finally get the recognition his play all season has deserved. It could also mean that UGA wins their biggest game in over 30 years.
