What can we expect in Athens?

It’s hard to know what we’re going to get with Reese. When it comes to playing at safety, there is no doubt that he’s really very raw. He is going to need a lot of work on his coverage skills to be able to play that position at the next level. Like a lot of high school players, he’s got to work on his technique.

However, there is no doubt that Reese has the potential to be special. You just don’t see safeties with his kind of size very often. His athletic ability should mean that he can cover tight ends when needed. If he’s able to do that and hit people the way he currently does, watch out SEC.

Richard Lecounte loves to hit people and the thought of him and Reese patrolling the secondary in a couple of years is frankly pretty scary. For the time being, however, Reese will likely sit behind and learn from JR Reed who had a great 1st season in Athens.

In a lot of ways, Reese is very similar to Nate McBride in the 2017 class. Both are athletic freaks and I expect Reese to have a huge impact on special teams just like McBride did last year. They will have time to develop and learn behind seniors and they are going to have to fight off some talented players to win a starting spot. But if they do, both of them have a chance to be really special.

Next: Now lets check out Quay Walker

Reese is in a great spot to reach his potential at UGA. Smart and Tucker are both great secondary coaches and he has experience in front of him to learn from. I can’t wait to see him roaming between the hedges one day. He certainly looks like a guy who will cause turnovers at the next level.
