Plenty of talent in the secondary:

Last but not least, the secondary. There are several young players who could end up winning spots in this group. First of all is Richard LeCounte, who looks like he’s already holding down the starting free safety job. LeCounte is going to bring a lot of physicality and speed to the secondary. I can’t wait to see him flying around out there.

Divaad Wilson is one of the early enrollee freshmen on the team and he’s impressed. He was injured in the practice on Saturday, but before that, he was making an impact. All of the reporters said that he was playing with a lot more confidence than you’d expect from someone so young. Hopefully, the injury is minor, because he could see the field this year, which I was not expecting.

Mark Webb has really moved up the depth chart quickly. Considering he was a wide receiver until the middle of this past season., Webb’s transition is remarkable. In Nickel packages, he was the starting cornerback this week. If he’s able to keep holding off other players, that speaks a lot for his ability.

Ameer Speed is another player to keep an eye on. I for one am a bit shocked that it was Webb and not Speed out there starting. But he really is one of the biggest CB’s most scouts have seen. He’s over 6ft3 and could be a shutdown player if he figures things out. He’s a guy to keep an eye on as practices continue.
