The Georgia Bulldogs have a lot of talent coming back in 2018 and 5 fo their players made the Athlon Preseason All-American list.

While some publications suggest that the Georgia Bulldogs lost a lot of talent this past offseason, that’s not exactly true. Athlon named 12 UGA players to their All-SEC teams earlier this offseason. yesterday they named 5 to their All-American lists.

On offense, the Dawgs saw D’Andre Swift and Andrew Thomas make the list. swift was named a 2nd team all-purpose back which seems fitting. of all the RB’s they listed, Swift was by far the most versatile. As UGA fans saw several times last year, he’s as good of a pass catcher as he is a runner. I’m sure the Dawgs will use that skill set even more in 2018. Thomas was incredibly good in his freshman year and is deserving of making the 3rd team as a tackle.

On the defensive side of the ball, Deandre Baker was the only UGA player to make the list. He was named to the 2nd team unit just like Swift. It was well deserved for a player who could well end up being a 1st round draft pick if he repeats his 2017 season. Baker didn’t allow a single TD pass against him last season and had a huge interception in the national championship game.

The other 2 players named were both on special teams. First was Mecole Hardman who was named as a 2nd team punt returner. He’s come a long way in less than 12 months since switching to the offensive side of the ball. Finally was Rodrigo Blankenship who was named 3rd team kicker. Blankenship has been a revelation since winning the kicking job and a scholarship last season. His clutch kicking was key to UGA winning the Rose Bowl and nearly the national championship.
