The dominoes keep on falling for Georgia Football and it’s 2019 recruiting class. Today, it’s OT Warren McClendon who picked UGA.

The good news keeps coming for the Georgia Football team. Fresh off two new commitments, the Dawgs started their week with a third. Once again, it’s that man Sam Pittman who pulls in another top player to UGA. This time it’s Warren McClendon, a UGA legacy who also has close ties to South Carolina.

His uncle, Bryan was of course a long time player at UGA and climbed through the coaching ranks in Athens. Now the offensive coordinator at SC, there was a lot of thinking that Warren would join his uncle. However, at the end of the day, the younger McClendon decided to head to UGA and go to the same school as both his uncle and grandfather, both of whom had professional careers.

It can’t have been easy turning down family for McClendon. However, if there was one school his uncle would likely have supported him going to, its UGA. Yes he’s now at  rival, but few coaches know Athens as well as Bryan. He will likely support his nephews decision in part because of Sam Pittman.

Say what you want about family, but a lot of what these kids need is coaching. Pittman puts kids into the NFL and has done so like few others. Warren has plenty of talent but is going to need a lot of time and energy to reach his potential. There is probably nobody out there better for him to learn from than Pittman. That and the comfortable home state feel is what once again seemed to win the day for Georgia.
