Walker is a BEAST

Everytime Georgia gets a commitment from a player, I like to spend some time diving into their film and trying to get an understanding of how they will fit in. With Walker, that process has been pretty damn fun.

The first thing to say is that much like Zion Logue who committed the other week, Walker is not going to play for UGA at the same size or position that he does on this film. In his junior season, Walker was around the 250lb mark and so played a lot of defensive end and OLB. However, he’s now over 280lbs and will likely be around the same size and Tyler Clark when he lines up for the first time in Athens.

There is a reason that Walker is rated by 247 as the best DT in the entire country. He’s a rare athlete and it shows when you watch his tape. Despite his size, he’s so explosive and so quick that it’s easy to see why Tray Scott wants him so much. The guy has all the tools to be one of the most disruptive DT’s in college football.

I for one am really excited to see him play this season. With his new size, we’ll likely get to see him slide inside to tackle for the first time. That should give us an opportunity to really see how he does in that sort of role in 2018. What we can say for now is that the Dawgs got a good one. After a year or two of high-level coaching and a world class weight program, this guy is going to be a monster.
