Georgia football has had some pretty memorable seasons since 2000, but which season was the best? I took a look at all the teams and broke down the top-five teams since the turn of the century.

This millennium Georgia football has won three SEC titles and three New Year Six bowls. The Dawgs also came close to winning a national championship.

Georgia has had a lot of good teams this millennium, but which one is the best one?

I’m sure most would jump to the 2017 team that played in the national championship game.

As good as that team was, does it deserve to be put over some of the other BCS teams?

Looking at 2002, 2007,  and the 2012 teams there is plenty of competition for this top spot with the 2017 team.

Georgia finished in the top 15 of the AP poll ten times since 2000. From 2002-2005, the Dawgs had four years in a row that finished in the top 10.

However, the 2007 Dawgs finished No. 2 in the nation and completely embarrassed the No. 1 offense in the country that year in the Sugar Bowl.

Georgia also had four teams finish in the top five of the AP poll in the 2000s.

I won’t be basing this solely on polls and trophies though.

To determine the best team, one has to identify the best talent. So, I will also be looking at how many high draft picks each squad had and which teams put the most talent into the NFL.

One thing is for sure, Georgia has put a plethora of talent into the NFL over the last 18 years.

I will also be basing it on Sport-Reference’s SRS rating, to keep things even.

With all that said, let’s dive in and see where each one of these teams land on the list.
