Georgia Football: Top-10 most exciting players to watch in 2019

#8: Eric Stokes

Coming in at No. 8 on this list is Eric Stokes. He came in toward the end of the season and earned his spot. Now we all want to know if he can hold onto his place and show how he can be a shutdown corner as well.

The Dawgs have to replace Deandre Baker as their shut down corner, and Eric Stokes is a top candidate for that spot.

Last season, he recorded 20 tackles, one tackle for a loss and nine pass breakups. Yes, nine pass breakups, which is incredible. He did a great job making noise toward the end of the season, and he earned his spot on the field.

Stokes is speedy and knows how to use the right amount of aggression on the wideouts he faces. I  think that the most exciting thing about him in 2019 will be seeing how many pass breakups he can get and how he continues to grow.

We all saw the development in Baker, and I  believe the same thing is coming with Stokes. He’s worked his tail off and has beaten out guys who, on paper, are better than him. However, he didn’t let that happen, and he seems to have outworked those five-star defensive backs.

It’s Stokes position to lose, in my opinion, and 2019 will be an exciting one to see how Georgia’s secondary evolves from losing Baker.
