Is this the best running back core in Georgia football history?
Georgia football has been one of the best in the business at producing high-caliber running back talent, but this year’s core might be the best in school history.
Now, don’t take that as a knock against all of Georgia football’s other backs who have played before these current guys. But when comparing those groups up against the ones we have currently, it doesn’t get much better.
Everyone and their mother expected D’Andre Swift to have a breakout season which he has.
In just two games, Swift has ground out 214 yards on 22 carries with two touchdowns while averaging nearly ten yards per carry.
What is scary is there are three guys behind Swift that are also putting up remarkable numbers.
The senor, Brian Herrien, has 96 yards on 17 carries as well as two touchdowns averaging 5.6 yards per carry.

Fan-favorite at the moment who everyone is salivating is Zamir “Zeus” White. Off of just 13 carries, White has pounded the rock for 123 yards, a touchdown, and averaging 9.5 yards per carry.
Even guys like Kenny McIntosh, who is just a freshman, have looked very solid early in the season.
Against Murray State, McIntosh took advantage of his nine carries as he slashed the defense for 61 yards on the ground.
Those numbers are all very impressive stat lines, especially since about three guys are splitting the load of carries they look even scarier when looked at as a unit.
As a whole unit, the Georgia running game has absolutely dominated teams with their running attack by rushing for a total of 592 rushing yards in just two games.
That is good enough to have the Dawgs ranked No. 10 in the nation in that stat category.
The best compliment to a great running game though is, of course, is a great offensive line which Georgia has as well.
It is one thing for a team to be two guys deep for a running game, but Georgia has three studs in their backfield. Four if you throw James Cook in the mix as well, who has also been impressive in just about every aspect of his game.
Dawg Nation was blessed with the running back duos of Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall or Nick Chubb and Sony Michel, but I am not sure the Dawgs have seen anything quite like this depth chart of running backs that they have now.
To put things in perspective, at the moment four guys for Georgia could rush for 1,000 yards this season. Granted that we are just two games into the season but regardless those boys have done their job of proving to everyone why people call us RBU.
As if having a guy like D’Andre Swift wasn’t a big enough nightmare for opposing defensive coordinators try scheming against four different players who your defense is going to try to stop.
Georgia’s ability to not only keep rotating fresh legs in on the offensive but as well as running backs is a recipe for disaster for any opposing team that faces the Dawgs this year.
