Ohio Stadium

The list of outstanding college football stadiums unvisited by Georgia football is slim. One stadium at the top of that list is “the Horseshoe” Ohio Stadium, home of the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Ohio Stadium is a venue that checks all the boxes. An elite tenant? Check. Unique but functional architecture? check. History and pageantry? Double-check. Atmosphere? Give it a gold star. Ohio Stadium is a total package in college football and it’s a shame Georgia hasn’t visited yet.

The Bulldogs were actually set to visit Ohio State either in 2020 or 2021 before the Buckeyes backed out of negotiations in 2012. Fortunetely, Georgia and Ohio State reached a deal in November 2019 for a home-and-home series in 2030 and 2031. The Bulldogs travel to Ohio Stadium on August 30, 2031.

Given the history of the programs and the passionate fan bases both schools have, there’s no doubt the atmospheres of those games will be electric. The question is, how many Georgia fans will flock to Columbus, Ohio? Taking over Notre Dame Stadium is one thing, can Georgia fans really turn “the Horseshoe” into a neutral site? We have 11 years to find out.
