Lambeau Field

Years ago, Lambeau Field hosting Georgia football, or any college team for that matter, wasn’t even a discussion. The home of the Green Bay Packers just did not host major college football and hadn’t hosted any college football since 1983.

That all changed on September 3, 2016 when Wisconsin played and defeated LSU on the storied grounds of Lambeau Field. The Badgers return to Lambeau Field this year on October 3 to play Notre Dame. Perhaps the door is open for more division I college football games.

Playing on Lambeau would certainly be a unique experience for players and coaches because of its history. Lambeau Field has stood since 1957 and has hosted some of the NFL’s most iconic games, including the Ice Bowl where it earned the nickname “the Frozen Tundra.”

Despite recent college football games at Lambeau Field, the possibility of Georgia football visiting is still a longshot. Being an entirely open-air stadium, Lambeau Field will likely never host a national championship game. Georgia’s best bet is a season kickoff game or some other early-season neutral-site game most likely against the Wisconsin Badgers.
