. . Terrence Edwards. 4. player. 814.

Position: WR
Years Played: 1999-2002
Best Chance at Heisman: 2002

Terrence Edwards will always go down as one of the best athletes and most gifted receivers in UGA football history. His career average for yards-per-reception at Georgia is 15.2, meaning every time he got the ball you were probably getting a first down at the very least.

Edwards’ best season by far was 2002 when he finished with 1004 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns, but it wasn’t quite enough that year to merit any real hope at the Heisman despite being a single-season record for Georgia in both categories.

The 2002 Heisman went, rightfully so, to USC quarterback Carson Palmer, with Iowa quarterback Brad Banks and Penn State running back Larry Johnson rounding out the runner-up categories. There could have been an argument to vote Edwards ahead of Banks and maybe Johnson, but Palmer had a true standout season that year.

Edwards stands as Georgia’s all-time leader in number of receptions (204), receiving yards (3,093), and receiving touchdowns (30).
