Georgia football has a much-needed week off before the big showdown in Jacksonville, but that doesn’t stop the media from discussing the Dawgs.

As Dawg fans, being No.1 in the country and having all this hype surrounding the team can be a bit intimidating.

After all, it’s been 41 years since Georgia won a national title, so when 7-0 happens, and all these compliments come, fans start to think there is hope that this could be the year.

The thought alone that ESPN College GameDay’s Lee Corso predicts the Dawgs would win the SEC and the national title is scary.

While the fans and the media can see what Georgia has done to teams the last seven weeks, there is still so much football left to play.

In the latest SEC Shorts video, the crew who produces and makes the content played into the fact that Georgia fans tend to let hope in too early to get their hearts broken year after year.

The SEC Shorts crew nailed it with this video as we all know what it’s like to think this is Georgia’s year to win it all and how hope usually spells disastrous for Dawg and Georgia fans alike.

We recommend watching the video with closed captions on to catch some of the perfectly timed digs at Georgia fans because, at this point, it’s just flat out funny.

This crew even throws a dig at Tennessee and that whole situation from Saturday night, which elevates the video to an elite level.

Georgia fans see the recruiting classes, the Kirby Smart effect on the team, and since 2017, they have made it known the Dawgs should have a national title under their belts.

However, Alabama said no that year, and well since then, there was the LSU game in 2018 that kept Georgia out of the playoffs despite falling to Alabama by just seven points. We won’t discuss the Texas game that year either because that was a disaster in itself.

The positive thing to take from that bowl game loss was how Georgia looks at different matchups. Since then, the Dawgs don’t take any bowl game lightly, so there is that.

In 2019, after starting 5-0, South Carolina came to Athens and beat the Dawgs in double overtime. Don’t worry — this year’s matchup wiped the slate clean of that evil, but before that, it was a hard pill to swallow.

Georgia should have never lost that game, yet all Dawg fans had their hope ripped away when they did. The Dawgs made it to their third straight SEC Championship game but got run over by Joe Burrow, driving LSU to a perfect season.

The Dawgs handled Baylor in the Sugar Bowl and finished 12-2, typically making fans happy. Not Georgia fans though, they had so much hope for the season — having two losses isn’t acceptable anymore.

Last season, it was the Alabama game and then the Florida game. Granted, before the season started, Georgia fans thought they would have a different quarterback, and no one saw Florida coming with Kyle Trask and Kyle Pitts.

Regardless, Dawg fans went into that season with a ton of hope that if they got beat by Alabama, it would be fine — just win out and get to Atlanta. Well, that didn’t happen.

Now Georgia is 7-0, has the No.1 defense in the country, and a successful high-scoring offense with their back up quarterback leading the way.

While Dawg fans all want to have hope that 2021 is finally the year, please take a deep breath and remember Georgia sports teams have it rough.

This year could be when it finally all comes together, but as the video shows us all, Georgia should take it week-by-week and never overlook an opponent.

If it’s their time to win it all, it’ll happen, so push that hope down for a few more weeks — just a few more weeks, well, maybe until they win it all.

Don’t drink the Kool-Aid just yet, Dawg fans, maybe just sip it.

Don’t get your hopes up yet, because there is a lot of football left, but this team does have the makings of putting together something great. For now, cheer for them to beat whoever they play each week, and when the time comes, the glory will feel fantastic.
